Building a New Culture Through Christ

Growing up, I never had a deep sense of cultural identity. There were no clear traditions, no strong values passed down, and no structured way of understanding life. It often felt like I was floating through life without a true foundation, trying to piece together a sense of belonging from fragmented experiences. While others had customs and deeply rooted family traditions, I was left wondering what defined my own family’s culture.

As I grew older, deep inside I longed for something stable—something that could guide me, my future, and the generations to come. That’s when I found Jesus Christ. Through Him, I discovered that true culture isn’t just about traditions passed down; it’s about the values we live by and the foundation we build upon. In Christ, I found a new culture, one that shapes my family with love, wisdom, and purpose.

A New Foundation in Christ

Culture is often defined as the shared beliefs, customs, and behaviors of a group of people. But when Christ enters our lives, He reshapes our understanding of what truly matters. Instead of clinging to an undefined past, I embraced the teachings of Jesus as the core of my family’s identity.

  • Love and Grace: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” – John 13:34
  • Faith and Trust in God: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
  • Wisdom and Righteous Living: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” – Proverbs 9:10

Through Christ, my family now has a culture of faith, prayer, and reliance on God. Our home is built on biblical principles, shaping the way we interact, make decisions, and raise our children.

Passing Down a Legacy of Faith

Without Christ, my family’s culture felt undefined. But now, I have the opportunity to pass down a legacy rooted in truth. We teach our children to:

  • Pray daily and seek God’s guidance (Philippians 4:6 – "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.")
  • Treat others with kindness and humility (Ephesians 4:32 – "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.")
  • Work diligently and live with integrity (Colossians 3:23 – "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.")

A Culture That Leads to Eternal Life

Building a new culture through Christ isn’t just about this life—it’s about eternity. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6). By choosing to follow Him, my family isn’t just creating a temporary way of life; we are preparing for an everlasting future with God.

I may not have grown up with a strong cultural identity, but through Jesus, I have built one. It is a culture of faith, love, and righteousness—a culture that will continue for generations to come.
